Living room remodel with feature wall

Our Completed Living/Dining Area

Our Living/Dining Room Remodel has enabled us to achieve an open plan kitchen/dining/living space that opens up to a large outdoor entertaining area (this reno is still to come). Included in this redo, we have incorporated a daring black sub-feature wall with our feature being the messmate timber panels behind the TV. We have used a concrete dining table with bench seats plus a floating wall shelf to accentuate our "county/industrial" style. We have continued using the Senso vinyl floor planks in Rustic Walnut that leads us to our newly installed sliding door where we bring outside in.

Steps

Step 1

This starts the demolition of 2 walls leading from our kitchen through to the pokey sunroom adjoining the laundry. This was a massive task and we certainly endured lots of blood, sweat and tears (and blisters).

Step 2

Knocking out the internal walls was a challenge but certainly no comparison to the brick external wall. We had to place a massively large and heavy steel lintel up to prevent the roof from caving in. We used a Demo saw with a diamond tip blade to cut the bricks. Super messy job!

Step 3

Plastering time - It's a tough gig removing the old horsehair plaster, infact, it's a tough gig doing anything with plaster, hanging, joining, sanding (definitely not our favourite reno job). we also added more of the Senso vinyl flooring to match up with the previous kitchen reno.

Walah!! Our living/dining space is all complete. Hope you like the end result, we love it! Whoever said opposites attract, was on the money - Heather the cow brings lots of colour and fun to our room while our gorgeous budha offers calmness and tranqulity. We have continued the use of black, concrete and timber features to tie in with our other renos.

I can see how much time and effort you've put into this project, for which you should be extremely proud. 

Removing the dividing wall, installing the lintel and installing the new sliding glass door has really opened up the space and provide a wonderful volume of light to your new living room area.

The choice of colours is fantastic, and the vertical batten feature wall is very on trend. Heather the cow and the indoor plants give that pop of colour that really makes the space home.
