I want to patch up a wall after some plumbing repipe works

I have filled in some chased walls with sand and cement some of the wall has a depth of 20mm but mainly the depths are around 10mm I am wondering what product would be best I was advised to use gyprock all purpose compound but I'm worried it might be too thick . Maybe I should bed in out more wilh some more sand and cement.

Hello @Michael9

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about patching up your wall.

If you are referring to the Gyprock CSR 2.25kg Less Mess Multi-Purpose Joint Compound, it doesn’t bond well to concrete and can crack or flake over time due to its different expansion properties. Since the repair area is not that big, I suggest using Parfix 1kg Ready To Use Multipurpose Filler or Dunlop 5kg Ardit Rapidset Repair Mortar

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hello @Michael9

The Parfix 1kg Ready To Use Multipurpose Filler can be sanded down to get perfect flat finish. But the Dunlop 5kg Ardit Rapidset Repair Mortar must be applied perfectly as it is mortar based and can't be sanded down. There is no need to use gyprock to overcoat it as it will be at the same level as the wall. My best advice is to use Zinsser 1L White Bulls Eye Primer Undercoat Sealer And Stain Blocker to cover the repair patch on your wall.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.
