The block out blind is commonly installed right next to the window frame to prevent light from leaking into the bedroom. However, if you wish to have a gap between the blind and the window frame to allow light to come in all you need to do is to use a 42 x 19mm 1.2m DAR Pine Standard and install it in front of the window frame. The blind can then be fixed onto the pine piece which will provide the gap you are after.

It sounds like your goal is to prevent light from leaking around the edges of your face-mounted blinds, there are a few options to consider. One solution is to purchase custom-made blinds that fit snugly within the window frame. These blinds are made to measure, ensuring they sit flush within the frame, leaving minimal or no gaps for light to seep through.
Alternatively, you could install a second set of blockout blinds within the frame. This additional layer would help block any light escaping from the edges of the existing blinds. Both of these solutions would effectively address the issue of light leakage around face-mounted blinds.
