How to repair gyprock wall hole caused by the door handle?

Hi all, looking for suggestions on how to get it fixed. Its caused by the back of door handle slamming in to the wall when opened forcefully. Yet I have no clue how it happened as the wall is secured by plastic door stopper.1000195531.jpg

Hi @foxhound,

To repair the area start by gently pressing on the damaged area. If it feels loose or gives way, you'll need to cut out the damaged section and add a backing to secure the repair. If it doesn't move and is firmly in place, you can fill over it.

To add backing, cut a couple of paddle pop sticks or a paint stirrer to fit inside the wall behind the hole. Apply Liquid Nails to these backing pieces, then insert them into the wall and press them against the inside of the plasterboard. Once the glue has fully set, fill the hole with Selley's Rapid Plaster Filler until it’s level with the surrounding wall. Allow it to dry, then sand the surface smooth before adding a second coat if needed. After the final coat has dried and been sanded, apply an undercoat before painting to blend the repair seamlessly with the wall.

Alternatively, you could also use a wall repair patch to cover the damaged area if you prefer a simpler approach. Here's a helpful guide: How to repair a hole in a wall.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell

Thanks Mitch, I was able to repair it using a wall repair patch.

Only thing left it to paint it now.
