How do I fix a paint job that has been damaged by a blind that scrapped on it?

Thanks for sharing your question about your window sill. The first step is to identify the colour of the paint. If you know what it is then it will make it much simpler to repair. But if not, I propose painting the entire window sill with a similar colour. Next, you'll need to do a quick paint test. Get a clean rag and dip the end of it in methylated spirits and rub it on the damaged spot of the window sill. If the paint rubs off it is water-based, but if it only polishes the surface, it is oil-based.

Once you know the type and colour of paint, the last step will be to sand the surface lightly to remove the loose bits of damaged paint. Wipe the surface clean and paint over the damaged area. However, if you decide to repaint the entire sill, the whole of the sill will need to be sanded in order to prepare it for painting.

I think it's gloss white oil based paint. It's a timber window sill.

I suggest trying out the paint test with the methylated spirits just to be sure. Once you have confirmed the results, then you can confidently buy the correct paint for the window sill.
