How to renovate wardrobe and shelving?

I am planning a makeover and upgrade of my walk-in-robe. As part of the project I’ll be adding some cool wallpaper on the wall you see directly in front in the picture.

The shelving on the side walls have cleats holding them up. I’m wondering if there are any alternatives to using cleats so that they don’t impact the look of the wallpaper.

Ideally the shelves would look like they are floating. Although I’m not sure if that would offer enough support.

The shelves are 1168 x 460 and behind the plasterboard is brick.

Thanks

Emma

Re: How to renovate wardrobe and shelving?

Hello @emmad25

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your wardrobe renovation.

The cleats can be removed, but the shelf must be supported by Hafele 23 x 23mm Angle Bracket - 20 Pack it is not possible to totally get rid of the support, but you can minimize it so that it is not so obvious. I suggest using the Ramset 6 x 38mm Universal Anchor - 6 Pack and recommend using a minimum of three per shelf.

Please make sure to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your project.

If you have any other question we can help with, please let us know.
