My daughter lost the remote for our bedroom fan and I bought a replacement remote from Bunnings since the weather is warming up. I thought I will be a easy fix with just getting a new remote. But it comes with a receiver. My question is do I need to install the receiver as well or will it work it with the old receiver. I have no clue about these things, at the most I have done is changed light bulbs and batteries.
Hello @naz_ali24
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your fan remote.
First, locate the make and model of your fan, as this information is usually found on the side of the fan’s body and will help identify it. Once you have this information, carefully get the packaging of the remote and see if it is on the compatibility list at the back of the packaging. Test the remote to see if it works with your fan. If it works, you’ll know that this type of remote is compatible with your fan, and you can exchange the product at the store for a remote-only option if needed.
If the remote doesn’t work, bring it back to the store and explain to the team member that it is not compatible. A team member can help you find a compatible remote based on the make and model of your fan. Alternatively, you could hire an electrician to install a receiver on your fan, which would ensure compatibility with a specific remote system.
