Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @kaurparneet33. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a wall.
It looks like you're dealing with noticeable lines or marks where the wardrobe was attached, possibly from sealant or previous paint. The first step is to scrape off any excess sealant or old adhesive residue. Use a scraper to carefully remove the material, but be gentle to avoid damaging the wall underneath. Once you've removed the bulk of it, you can sand the area with a medium-grit sandpaper to smooth out the surface and eliminate any remaining marks or unevenness.
After sanding, you'll likely need to skim coat the wall with plaster filler to even out the surface. Apply a thin layer of the filler over the entire affected area, smoothing it out with a plastering trowel. Once the filler is dry, sand it again with fine-grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth and level finish that blends seamlessly with the rest of the wall.
It’s important to check for asbestos, especially in older homes. Older buildings may have asbestos-containing materials, including in the wall plaster or joint compounds. If you're unsure whether the wall might contain asbestos, it’s advisable to have it assessed by a professional before you begin sanding. Sanding asbestos-containing materials can release harmful fibres into the air, so it’s important to take proper precautions.
When working on this type of project, always wear the appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), including safety glasses, a dust mask or respirator, cut-resistant gloves, and a long-sleeved shirt to protect yourself from dust and debris. This will help keep you safe during the sanding and filling process.
If you have any concerns or doubts, consider enlisting a professional to handle the sanding or wall assessment, especially when working with older homes.
