How to account for inconsistent door height when doing moulding?

Hey team,

We are wanting to add some moulding to our plain white doors, pretty much exactly what is seen here

Whilst the door is the same width all the way down the frame, it is unfortunately about a full CM taller on one side. Meaning on the left side of the door it is 2021mm tall but on the right side it gradually goes up to 2029mm

We're wondering what to do in this situation so it doesn't end up looking askew. The top of the door is level, so the difference in height is coming from the bottom of the door.

Do we just accept that on the bottom moulding panel, there will be an extra 8mm of blank space below it? I don't really see another option but wanted to consult the brains.

Cheers.

Re: How to account for inconsistent door height when doing moulding?

Hi @dchur,

Let's start with why the door is inconsistent in size. Has it been cut to mimic the floor not being level? I think your options would be to trim the door to a consistent size or deal with the gap being askew. If the door has been cut like this to suit the floor, you will have an uneven gap under it if corrected. So, either an uneven gap below the moulding or an uneven gap under the door. I can't see much way around that.

If you can speculate on why the door is not consistent that might help our members provide some further ideas.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
