How do i remove a nut thats imbedded in wood?

I’m looking to change the handles on my chest of drawers, but there’s a nut embedded on the inside of the drawer in the wood that’s in the way! How do I remove it? Pics below.

thanks!

Re: How do i remove a nut thats imbedded in wood?

Hi @wakefield,

It looks like the nut is glued into place, which can make removal tricky. I suggest threading a bolt (or even the original handle) into the nut from the back. Use it as a lever to gently wiggle the nut free. Apply firm pressure to crack the glue, but be careful not to damage the timber in the process.

Let me know how you go and if you have any other questions.

Mitchell
