How do I stain a timber panel to match existing shelf?

Thank you for this helpful community.

I am looking to replicate a shelf I have in a bookcase.  Measurements are approx. 1080mm x 292mm x 19mm with colour as per photos below.

I found this panel. 

I don’t have or know how to use power tools so would use my handsaw to cut to size.

How would I go about staining (in the easiest way) to get a similar colour to the existing shelf?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @IL. It's terrific to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about matching stains.

You might also like to consider the 285 x 19mm 1.8m DAR Pine Premium panel, which is a close match but 7mm narrower than your existing shelf. If that works for your project, it could be an option. It would save you having to do the long cut with a handsaw.

The best way to match the stain is to take one of your shelves into your local Bunnings and speak with the team at the paint counter. They can compare it to available stain options, and if you already have your new shelf, they might even be able to test some of the closer stains to see which gives the best match.

Matching a stain can be tricky, especially since timber naturally varies in grain and tone. Even if you find a similar stain colour, differences in how the new timber absorbs the stain can affect the final look. If your existing shelf is made from a different type of wood than the panel you're purchasing, you may find it difficult to achieve an exact match. The team should be able to guide you on the best approach to get as close as possible.

On the website the panel I originally saw has a nice appearance, but I should probably see in person at store when checking out the staining too.
