The permastik hook fell off with a canvas and damaged the wall. What do I need to fix this and how? Thanks in advance!

Re: how do I fix this damage to the wall?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @russkhaya. It's sensational to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing wall damage.

To fix the damage to the wall caused by the permastik hook, you’ll need to follow a few steps to ensure a smooth, durable repair. First, start by scraping off any loose or peeling paint around the damaged area until you reach the well-adhered paint. This will ensure that your new materials properly bond to the wall. Once the area is clean, use a sanding block or sandpaper to smooth the surface and create a better texture for the filler to adhere to.

Next, apply a skim coat of filler to the depressed area. Use a putty knife to spread the compound evenly, filling the depression and smoothing it out so it is level with the surrounding wall. Allow the filler to dry completely, and then sand it lightly to ensure a smooth finish. If necessary, apply a second coat of filler, repeating the process until the wall is completely smooth and flush with the surrounding surface.

Once the filler is dry and sanded, you can touch up the area with an undercoat and then paint to match the rest of the wall.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
