Footstool upcycle with storage space

I had a footstool I had previously covered and decided I needed some additional storage, so converted it into a storage footstool.

Materials

MDF board

Black hinges

Black gloss spray paint

Foam and fabric

Tools

Craftright staple gun

Mouse handsander

Steps

Step 1

Removed cover from footstool I had upcycled a few years ago after purchasing frame from local recycling yard

Step 2

Painted the base black.

Added an MDF base lined with same fabric I was using to recover the top - this was glued and screwed on.

Step 3

Recovered the top of the footstool with fabric from Ikea, including lining the inside of lid. Added hinges to allow it to open.

Re: Footstool upcycle with storage space

Hi @karenc1,

Thank you for sharing this wonderful project and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

This is a fantastic bit of furniture that is both functional and stylish. The paint compliments the fabric nicely and the hinged top opening allowing it to open to a compartment will certainly be useful for storing bits and pieces.

Congratulations on a job well done.

Jacob
