Do I need any sort of clear coat over painted vinyl and metallic plastic?

Hi there,

I have used the White Knights Squirts undercoat and gloss paint sprays https://www.whiteknightpaints.com.au/products/craft-and-decorative/white-knight-squirts/ to paint the vinyl in these midcentury drawers and IKEA metallic plastic lamp. My question would be, do they need any further protective coat?

thank you,

Lola

Re: Do I need any sort of clear coat over painted vinyl and metallic plastic?

Hi @LolaC,

Thank you for your question about painted vinyl.

While not 100% necessary, a clear coat such as this White Knight Clear Gloss Squirts Spray Paint would certainly help to add a layer of protection.

If you'd like to apply a clear coat, allow it to cure for around 2-3 days before putting it to use as while still soft, it can damage quite easily.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Jacob
