How to easily transform flat plain wooden doors into ones that instantly become a feature of the room.

Step 1
1/5The 'sort of' before photos - didn't manage to get one before I started, but here's a few of the doors. One with the scaffolding when I was re-staining the rafters, and the other when I was putting a 'wash' over the roughly plastered walls to create an aged effect.

2/5First thing to do was to put two coats of Zinsser BIN Shellac based stain blocker to prevent the jarrah wood tannings from leaching through the paint, both on the doors and frames.
Step 3
3/5Next step was to masking tape my panels, and then using stencils and Joint Compound, create some raised textured patterns in the panel sections. Then given them a bit of a sand before framing the panels with some pine moulding.
Step 4
4/5I used some No More Gaps where the moulding sat on the doors, then a few coats of paint over everything. After that, I put a dark watery wash over the panelled section to accentuate the pattern, and then brushed over with the lighter paint with a mini roller to create a more in depth effect.

5/5All finished! The two doors either side of the dresser have now become a lovely feature of the room.

I was under the impression that you only modified the back of your bed. This is going above and beyond. The modification of your doors and walls is just amazing.
