We had been on the hunt for new bar stools for a while and decided we would start looking on Gumtree and FB Marketplace for some unwanted ones we could refurbish. We found 4 bar stools from a restaurant turning into an ice cream shop and got 4 at $10 each. It was a pretty simple facelift for these stools!
How we did it:
TIP: DO NOT USE OLD CLEAR GLOSS! We thought we would finish up an old tin of clear gloss for the seats... bad idea it left
white dots on the seats and it was sticky to the touch after drying. We ended up having to re-sand the seats - luckily we only did 2.
Pretty happy with the result!
Hi @Tinker_Bell
Thank you so much for sharing your project photos and materials list. It's great that you've found yourself a good stool set. The stools look beautifully refreshed. How many days did it take to paint the entire set? Did it include the table or was the table already in your possession? Thank you for sharing that tip about not mixing clear finishes. If you have another project lined up, please don't hesitate to share them.
We look forward to seeing your next project.
Eric
Thanks @EricL !
We did the stools in the morning and by evening they were ready to be used - although we waited until the next morning to actually sit on them and enjoy a cup of coffee.
The table we had so we wanted a set of stools that would go with it, also why we went with a clear rather than a color since the legs of the table were already light.
I am excited to get started on the next project!
