Our kitchen was looking old and needed a complete makeover. I gutted the old kitchen all the way back to the timber frame and roughly designed the new layout. To keep costs low, I obtained 2 old kitchens off marketplace (for free) on the condition I dismantled and removed myself. Using the obtained cabinetry boards, i built the bench frames then hand cut and screwed every panel, draw, shelf (piece by piece).
Although project took 6 months to build, Total build cost $5250 (including new appliances)
All built myself with no previous building experience.

Hello @Dundie21,
Congratulations on a terrific project. Great idea to repurpose those cabinets and keep renovation costs low. You've definitely managed to modernise your kitchen and made it brighter.
Did you face any challenges while installing the obtained cabinets? And any words of advice for someone who may be looking to do something similar in their kitchen?
Projects like yours often get recognised in our Top Ideas articles like 7 ways to refresh your kitchen and it won't be surprising to see your project in a similar list one day.
Congratulations again and looking forward to seeing more of your work.
