I turned an outdated kitchen into a fresh modern kitchen on a budget.
I did a marble like effect on the counter tops.
Removed, sanded and sugar soaped all doors and draws before using Dulux
Renovation range to bring the kitchen alive.
Purchased new Bunnings handles, new flooring and new stove.
Hi @Shirld welcome to Workshop and thank you for sharing an amazing transformation.
It goes to show that sometimes you don't have to rip the whole lot out and start again to achieve some pretty dramatic results.
Now I'm not saying there wasn't anything wrong with that retro bench top and handles 😉 but with some right use of the correct product you can bring something into this decade.
I have a good mate that is a builder and he did the exact thing a few years ago as an interim until he was ready to rip out the kitchen which is happening now and the results were like yours and the products held up very good.
What type of flooring did you use? Vinyl plank, click laminate or hybrid laminate?
Carl
Thank you Carl,
when on a tight budget, due to the economy the refurbishment did the job for now.
Floor board I used were Hybrid.
A big welcome to the community from me, too @Shirld!
What a dramatic transformation you've achieved. Could you tell us a little more about the marble effect you applied to the benchtops? Our members are always super keen to hear about methods to improve the look of outdated surfaces.
How long did this work take you, and do you know the associated cost?
We very much look forward to hearing more about the other projects around the house and garden, so please let us know anytime you have something to share.
Mitchell
Hi Mitchell
The product are used on my benchtops was a product called,
GianiTM Standard Paint Kit - WHITE DIAMOND, this comes in 4 different colours.
Used as per instruction in the box.
It took me around a week to do the counter tops another 10 days to do all cupboard and draws.
The cost to refurbish counter tops, cupboard doors, drawers, paints, handles, rollers ect, new appliance stove, tiles and floor boards in kitchen all came to $2955.00.
product used are attached.
Many thanks for the extra detail @Shirld, I'm sure members will really appreciate it.
We have had many members share kitchens they have transformed with paint and it's always brilliant to see how you can make an incredible difference for a low cost.
Thanks again, we're looking forward to seeing what projects you tackle next.
Jason
Looks really good, chalk and cheese to the old kitchen photo's.
Isn't it interesting just how much one can achieve if you just set your mind to it and it usually entails allot of hard yacka rather than allot of money as sanding and painting, even new handles are not that expensive.
Well done and welcome to the commumity.
Cheers,
Barbara
Hello @Shirld
What a fantastic transformation of your kitchen. The painting of your doors and benchtop have totally changed the character of the kitchen to a very modern feel. The benchtop colour and new flooring really go well together. Is that stick-on laminate flooring or did you use clip-on laminate floor boards for your flooring?
Thank you for sharing your kitchen transformation project.

Eric
