How to update kitchen cabinets?

Hi there,

I have kitchen cabinets that are around approximately 24

years old. I’ve attached some photos so you can see the condition and colour of the cabinet doors. I’m hoping to give them a bit of a refresh—mainly the doors, drawer fronts, skirting, and partition fronts—without spending too much.

Do you think it’s practical to use wallpaper from Bunnings to wrap the doors and other surfaces? Or would painting be a better and more long-lasting option? I’d love your advice on the most cost-effective solution, or whether it might be worth looking into replacing the cabinet doors and drawer fronts altogether.

Thanks so much for your guidance!

Kind regards,

Re: Kitchen cabinets facelift

Hi @smhasnain,

Thank you for your question about what to do with your cabinets.

I'd suggest painting them, as it is a tried-and-true method of restoring aesthetics to cabinets and structurally your cabinets look ok.

You can use the Dulux Renovations range of cabinet paints. They are a specialty paint system designed to update laminate, melamine, and timber cabinetry. Start with a coat of the Dulux Renovation Range Primer followed by your choice of topcoat to finish.

Check out Rejuvenate your cabinets with Dulux paint and How to Paint Laminate Kitchen Cabinetry for some guidance on the process.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi @smhasnain,

Just to add to Jacob's reply, I'd encourage you to get some inspiration from our collection of 20 kitchens transformed with paint by Bunnings Workshop community members.
