How to revamp textured laminate benchtops?

Hi,

We've recently moved into an older home and are working our way through updating, we plan to paint the cupboard doors or re cover them but the kitchen benches are a ... bit of an eye sore and we have no idea where to start, I'm fairy certain they're laminate but they are textured which is making finding a solution rather tricky, we only plan to live in this home for another year or so, so not really wanting to spend lots of money, just wanting it a bit more easy on the eyes, PLEASE help us get rid of the blue !!

Hello @brycuffe

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about revamping your benchtop.

One quick method to change the colour of your benchtop is to paint it with the Dulux Renovation Range (benchtops). You'll need the Dulux 1L Renovation Range Primer and the Dulux 1L White Satin Renovation Range Tiles And Benchtops. The key to a successful benchtop painting is to make sure that surface of the benchtop is fully prepared. Plus, it is also important to follow the painting technique suggested by Dulux.

Here is a link to a handy step-by-step guide: How to paint kitchen benchtops.

Another way to update your benchtop is to replace it with the Specrite 2200 x 600 x 26mm Timber Multi Use Pine Panel. This panel can be painted with the Cabot's 1L Satin Clear Benchtop Timber Finish to easily seal its surface. It can be easily cut down and is relatively easy to install. The advantage of having a new benchtop is that it will transform the look of your kitchen and because it is a timber top any damage that it incurs can be sanded away.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
