I have a tiler coming to do a splashback and I need to cover up the cables. What’s the best option? Cheers
Hello @EllieBee
Thanks for sharing your question about patching your rendered wall. I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - Can tracked electrical wiring be plastered over by @KarynM. I suggest engaging the services of an electrician in regards to your wiring installation
Let me call on our experienced members @CSParnell and @MikeTNZ for their recommendations.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Hi Eric,
Thanks for your reply. The electrician just installed all of these cables - are you saying that they didn’t do the job properly?
Hello @EllieBee
Please refer to your electrical contractor, they will be familiar with the rules and regulations in regards to wiring.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
@EllieBee please just consult with your electrical contractor, he should know the regs.
Thank you, I did message him and he gave me a long reply of why they are compliant. They also had Energy Safe Victoria do an inspection and issue a safety compliance certificate. He said they can be rendered over so now I’m confused 😅
Hi @EllieBee,
Since Energy Safe Victoria has inspected the work and issued a compliance certificate, it suggests that the installation meets regulatory requirements. However, as we've discussed previously, some members believe that cables should be enclosed in conduit for added protection, and the Australia/New Zealand Wiring Rules do indicate that when embedding cables in walls, they must be protected from mechanical damage with a conduit or duct.
If you're still uncertain, your best option would be to reach out to Energy Safe Victoria directly for clarification or consider consulting another licensed electrician for a second opinion. This way, you can be confident that any patching work won't compromise safety or compliance.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

The installation of electrical wiring looks compliant this is how its done.
Dont worry about plastering over the gaps and wires yourself for the tiler.
The competent experienced tiler will know how to handle this job.
