How to oil a timber kitchen benchtop?

After applying Feist Watson Kitchen timber oil + prooftint (Maple), two sections of benchtop have developed  an orange/brown colour rather than maple colour of the rest of the benchtop ? The two sections were initially stripped to the original wooden base as the orange/brown markings suggested hot pan heating and sunshine through the large window.Do I have to strip/sand again before reapplying the maple-tinted kitchen timber oil ?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's marvellous to have you join us, and thank you for sharing your question about your kitchen benchtop.

It's possible that the damage to the timber top is much deeper causing the orange-brown colouring to appear despite stripping it down. Would it be possible for you to post a few photos of the top and the Feast and Watson product you purchased? This will give our members a chance to assess the timber benchtop. We can then make recommendations on how to proceed.

In regards to the oiled timber surface, it will be necessary to sand down the surface back to timber and re-apply the timber oil. However, before doing that we'd like to see what's happened to the surface of timber benchtop.
