How to fix or replace kitchen cabinetry?

Hi there,

I’m looking for some suggestions on the best way to fix or replace these kitchen cabinets for our new property.

We are thinking about repainting all the cabinets for a refresh, but noticed these are damaged so figure we need to action this before painting.

I’m completely new to this, so any suggestions will help!!

Re: How to fix or replace kitchen cabinetry?

Hello @aoatkinson93

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about fixing your kitchen doors.

It appears that the filler panels and your corner door have been heavily damaged by extended exposure to the hot moisture exhaust of the dishwasher I suspect. The filler panels I believe are too heavily damaged and will need to be replaced. Your door however might be recycled by removing the vacuum wrap around it. This is on the condition that all the doors will be stripped of their wrap and repainted.

In regards to repair, I'm afraid that it is not possible to reapply the wrap around the door. Another option is to replace all the doors in your existing kitchen to the Kaboodle range. There is a wide range of doors and colours to choose from. I suggest measuring all your doors and visiting your local store and speaking to the kitchen specialist to find out if the Kaboodle doors are compatible.

If you decide to paint the existing doors, the general steps of painting timber will follow and that is to sand it down, then clean the surface apply a primer and then a topcoat. A good example of a primer is Zinsser 1L Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Undercoat Primer Sealer Stain Blocker. For the topcoat, I propose having a look at Dulux 1L Aquanamel Semi Gloss White Enamel Paint.

Once you've decided on a course of action, please let me know and we'll be more than happy to provide more information on the steps you need to take.

Eric
