Hi, I recently installed a Estilo mixer tap and the pressure is quite low compared to the traditional mixer tap I replaced. I’ve checked to make sure the hot and cold water is turned on to a suitable level and there is no change in pressure
Any assistance would be great
Thanks
BP
Hi @BP22183,
Thank you for your question about your new sink mixer.
Based on what you’ve described, the most likely cause of the low pressure is something within the mixer tap itself. The Estilo mixer you’ve installed is WELS 5-star rated, which means it’s designed to use just 6 litres of water per minute. If your old tap didn’t have a restrictor, the difference in flow can be quite noticeable.
With this being said, one of the first things to check is the aerator or spray head. These taps often have a fine mesh screen and a flow restrictor built into the end of the spout or veggie spray nozzle. Sometimes these can get partially blocked by debris during installation. Try unscrewing the end of the spray head and looking for any blockages, and remove them.
Another common issue is debris inside the flexible inlet hoses. During installation, it’s easy for particles to get lodged in the filters inside the hoses or the base of the mixer body. You can try turning off the water, disconnecting the hoses from the shut-off valves underneath the sink, and flushing water through them to clear out anything that might be stuck. If your mixer has built-in check valves or filters at the inlets, make sure those aren’t blocked either.
It’s also worth testing the hot and cold lines separately. Run just the hot, then just the cold, and see if the pressure is low on one side or both. If one side is noticeably weaker, it could point to an issue with the water supply or a partially closed shut-off valve. If both are low, that again suggests the issue is within the mixer itself.
Finally, if everything seems fine and you’ve cleared blockages, but the pressure is still low, the tap may just not be the best fit for your setup.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
