How to fix leaking LG fridge tap connection?

IMG_0234.jpeg

We have just connected our new LG fridge (had used a 20x15mm brass reducing brush and thread tape), however we are still noticing the thread parts (where we have wrapped with thread tape 6+ times, already quite hard to turn it in) is a bit wet. We had also tried to screw the reducing brush/connector further up to its full capacity (to the point it obstructs the tap from being able to turn on) but still experiencing leaking. How do we fix this?

Thanks in advance!

P.S we’ve just moved into our new built house and have come on here to find a lot of answers to our queries, super thankful!

Re: How to fix leaking LG fridge tap connection?

Hi @bunnyhelp,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's fantastic to hear you've already found answers to questions you've had about things in your new home.

Unfortunately, as you've already used the right materials and you're using new materials that haven't come under wear and tear I think the solution will be a case of trial and error.

Something I've seen plumbers do that I suspect will help is to roll the thread tape into a long thin spaghetti-like string and wrap it around the tap following the grooves of the thread. Once you've filled all the thread with the rolled tape, go back to using it flat and wrap over the top 2-3 times. Having this rolled tape between the threads will make sure the thread is fully sealed.

Give this a try and let me know how it goes, I'm happy to work with you and assist further if required.

Jacob
