How to fix Caroma Saracom tap slow flow low pressure?

I just bought a Caroma Saracom kitchen mixer tap and the flow is slow, is this normal, if not is there a workaround for how it can be fixed?

Re: How to fix Caroma Saracom tap slow flow low pressure?

Hello @Carolynk

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kitchen tap.

Please note that it might be necessary to engage the services of a licensed plumber to complete this work. If in doubt consult your local building authority before you begin.

One of the things you can check first is the water pressure in your laundry or bathroom tap. If they are just as slow, odds are the shut off valve at your meter has not been opened to full. This will cause all your taps in your house to flow slowly.

The second thing you can ask your plumber to check is the cold hose of the tapware. Was a cold-water restrictor installed at the end of the hose? This will often cause the cold water to slow down as low as 6 litres a minute. In your tap box there might be a restrictor marked 9 litres, this is the one that you should be using.

The only other cause for slow water that comes to mind is that something is partially blocking the cold-water outlet. It could be excess plumber's tape, or the rubber washer in the hose was seated incorrectly.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
