On this side of the kitchen sink it's looking a bit ratty. Is this just a matter of putting more silicone around it?
Hi @firsthome2022,
Due to the gap under the sink lip, grime tends to build up. It could be grime or just discoloured silicone sealant. First, I'd attempt to clean the area with an old toothbrush, or a toothpick can be used to scrape out debris. This might solve your issue if it's just grime. If it's discoloured silicone, you can trim any excess that's sticking out with a retractable knife, but be very careful not to cut into the benchtop. Remember to wear protective cut-resistant gloves when you do so. Once any excess silicone is removed, tape up either side of the gap and apply a very thin bead of silicone. Smooth the silicone off with a wet soapy finger so it forms a cove between the sink lip and benchtop. Remember, you'll only need a tiny amount of silicone to seal this gap.
Here's a handy step-by-step guide: How to apply silicone sealant.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Afternoon @firsthome2022
When looking at your pictures I was wondering if the little fastenening clamps may require tightening? These are located under the sink and clamp onto the bench. They are a pain in the neck to get to but it may be worthwhile to see if they are tight?

Thanks 👍
Thanks I'll take a look !
I’ve done a rough job but after so much time it will do for now I should give another top up and it kept disappearing so I went over and pushing in with finger probably not the best job as I read you need to wait for first coat to dry I was trying to get it to the lip of top of sink and yeah it will just come off I guess the extra layers but. Can redo the whole thing again eventually, how do you tighten those screws as I’ve never seen one before and not sure how guess I should have done that first , off to Brisbane later so going to attempt the bathroom silicone and gaps, hang door etc not doing any more painting until a later time when I get enough space to do it properly . And I need to be able to take my time not rushing. I have another question but I’ll separate it so as not too confusing thanks 🙏

The little attaching screw/clamps are on the underside of the sink, They kind of look like a fancy staple remover with a screw in the center.
Kinetic Sink Clips - 6 Pack are some if yours are missing.
They can be a bit of a turn and twist your body underneath the sink to install I must admit. But they will definently pull the edge of a sink down to teh bench top. One jaw goes over the steel lip of the underside of the sink (the two forks) and the other over the timber, then as you screw the screw up it draws both together.
