Gas cooking burner on my stove making popping noise
In the last few days, one of my gas cooking burners making popping noise while cooking. It was fine at turning on, but then keeps making popping noise. The other remaining burners are ok. This is 7 years old cooking stove. Have checked the cap, and always clean after cooking.
Is this dangerous or any possibility of explosion? No smell of gas.

Re: Gas cooking burner on my stove making popping noise
Hi @MYC,
Just wondering if you could first please rule out for us that it's not the gas cooktop's ignitor that is continuing to click even though the burner is already lit?
I know that can be a common problem.

Re: Gas cooking burner on my stove making popping noise
My thought as well Jason. I have had that happen on a few occasions with our Lofra gas oven (which we both hate). Sometimes the sparking ignition switch gets stuck. But it hasn't happened spontaneously during cooking...

Re: Gas cooking burner on my stove making popping noise
Well done with the YouTube! @MYC
To an amateur cook - definitely a gas issue.
All burners or just the one shown?
Have you recently cleaned the burners?
Are they in their correct position? Where they're meant to drop into place.

Re: Gas cooking burner on my stove making popping noise
Sorry - just re-read your opening post. You seem to have covered all that...
What happens if you swap it with another burner?

Just one burner, others ok.
Always clean each night and checked .

Re: Gas cooking burner on my stove making popping noise
Hello @MYC
In the interest of safety, I suggest shutting off your gas and not using your gas cooktop until you've had a professional gas oven repair agent inspect your stove. Intermittent gas release or popping is often a sign that the gas control valve is failing or the O'ring valve has sprung a leak and is tripping the safety valve switch in your controller.
You'll also notice that there might be a stronger smell of gas in the vicinity. If you were on bottled gas, the effect would be universal and you would see it on all the burners, this is often the sign that the gas bottle is about to run out. However, if your gas is off the street and only one controller is acting up. It's safe to conclude that the controller is failing.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
