Do you need to install end panels in Kaboodle cabinetry?

Do you need to install end panels in Kaboodle cabinetry?

A big hello to the Bunnings community.

I'm installing base cabinets in my Kitchen alcove and am faced with an issue with end panels.

  • Left to right, following are the cabinets - (450 mm drawer) + (200 mm pull out) + (900 mm appliance).
  • Thats a total of 1550 mm.
  • Total space available in the alcove is 1570 mm.
  • Kaboodle installation recommends that end panels should be installed for all appliance base cabinets, but I don't have enough space for installation of the end panels.
  • Each end panel is 18 mm and I have barely 20 mm space.

Is it mandatory to install end panels? What should I do if I don't have the space to do so? Can thinner 8 mm MDF board panels be installed in-lieu?

Would appreciate any help in this regard. Thanks.

Re: Do you need to install end panels in Kaboodle cabinetry?

Hello @M1374

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your kaboodle cabinets.

In order to accommodate the end panels, I suggest changing your 200mm cabinet into a 150mm, it is still possible to install a Kaboodle 150mm 2 Tier Soft Close Pullout Baskets which still lets you to operate it as a pull-out cabinet.

Thus, the 20mm plus the extra 50mm will give you a total of 70mm which is more than enough space for the end panels. kaboodle advises that when you select an under-bench oven cabinet, they recommended adding end panels on each side to keep the design symmetrical and assist with holding the heat deflectors in place.

Your other option is to get a smaller oven set so that you'll have more cabinet space and space for the end panels as well. For example, you can get a 450-drawer cabinet, a 450-pullout cabinet and a 600-oven cabinet. But if you are really keen on the 900-oven base cabinet then, you'll need to compromise on the size of one of the cabinetries.

If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Eric
