Australian government research has found the world's ugliest colour.
Apparently the research was done to find out what colour cigarette packets should be, but it's also handy for interior decorators!
Other colours considered were lime green, white, beige, dark grey and mustard. But none came close to Pantone 448C in terms of its ability to ‘‘minimise appeal’’ and ‘‘maximise perceived harm’’. Pantone 448C was commonly described as ‘death’, ‘dirty’ or ‘tar’ without any positive adjectives.
What do you think are some of the colours you should never, ever use when painting your house?
I don't think I could ever feel relaxed in a room with red walls.
Ha! Yes in a room like this I would be screaming "redrum!" in no time.
I don't think I'd ever use yellow. It would be very hard to get right.
You'd aim for something like this...
But end up with something like this...
Peach. Was big in the 80s. Especially in bedrooms and bathrooms.
@RenoQueen, 3 houses down from us is an exterior that's been painted with a colour very similar to that, but with a baby poop influence to it.
I don't get to see her much, but I'll ask if she's a smoker next time we catch up.
From the "worst", to the "best"... http://www.domain.com.au/advice/exactly-what-colours-you-should-be-painting-your-house-in-2017-20161...
Wow, those domainian experts sure do cover their butts.
Not long ago, pastels were the 2017's it.
Now we have Calming Serenity (textures), Botanical Inspirations, Bold Neutrals, Mysterious Violets, Sunny and Bright, & Earthy Hues, but did I miss something? Yep, I did, they remembered the Soothing Pastels, but forgot that Black is the new White, or that White is ......
Apart from the government who've banked a containerload of expert welfare cheques, who could take these clowns seriously?
I mean, reeeeeally.
Not so fast, I reckon that amongst us Workshoppers, we could dig up a Commodore 64, & a free random generating program to right the economy.
Gone would be flakey property experts, & the Bureaux of Meteorology.
@Andy_Mann I have a SEGA Mega Drive II, an Atari (somewhere) and a Commodore64 still at my old man's joint. Love retro gaming. I also have a PS4, PS3 and a Wii
