We are renovating our kitchen in the next few months. I love farmhouse sinks and would love to add one to the kitchen and maybe the laundry too. I love the look of them but I have heard mixed reviews about their practicality. I've read that dishes get damaged more easily and often, they can stain and are prone to chipping. I really like the look of the sinks and they would be perfect for our Victorian style home. Has anyone installed one and what was your experience? Or any suggestions of a good looking alternative?

@Prof raises a good point @Gwandalan_Tales.
We certainly don't regret installing a double sink in our kitchen renovation about a decade ago. We typically leave a drainage basket in the second sink for drying items.

The one pictured doesn't look very water efficient - too large. You would need a lot of water just to do a few dishes. I also don't think they look very good the way they stick out. I prefer clean lines.
