Why don't soaker hoses output the same?

Hi I have recently bought a host of soaker hoses and am greatly disappointed at the inconsistency of the same hoses. I have recently planted turf in 2 areas of about 10m x 6m each. And have found a big difference in output of different hoses and even 2 hoses that are the same have vastly different outputs apart from all the burst hoses. I cannot understand why they do not have the output in litres/minute somewhere on the packaging...but not none of them do!  Every other sprinkler device has an output in litres/minute on it as a legal requirement. Why not soaker hoses!?!???

I had a bunnings staff member tell me that because soaker hoses are not regulated, they don't need an output.....this did not make sense to me and I wish they would?!?

Re: soaker hoses

Hi @charliedavies,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your experience with the soaker hoses. We’re sorry to hear about the issues you’ve encountered and appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns.

If you can let me know the specific soaker hoses you've had issues with, I will pass on your feedback to the relevant teams.

If the hoses you’ve purchased do not meet your expectations or have manufacturing defects, such as bursting, we recommend reaching out to the store where they were purchased. They can assist with a replacement or refund in line with our return policy.

If you have further details or would like assistance with specific products, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Re: soaker hoses

Hi Jacob, thanks for that, the hoses I had trouble with were Aqua 15m hoses (about $10 each). I have bought about 5 of them and each has a vastly different output, 2 are useful and the rest not much chop! Also I bought Nylex twin pack of 10 m (about $25) soaker hoses....same story as aqua but also a lot of splitting and leaks so I took them back and exchanged for a Pope 7.5 m which I haven't used much but seems ok, still no output stated!?!

Do you think they could and should put an output on these sprinklers?!?

I'm complaining to vcat about these products. I did email Nylex about their soaker hoses, they used to have a good name in the plastics industry years ago...put got no response. It's not right!

Help make Australia great again put the output on these hoses and fine those that don't.

Thanks Charlie

Re: soaker hoses

Hi @charliedavies,

Thanks so much for your feedback; I'll pass it on to the suppliers. As Jacob mentioned, if any of the soaker hoses haven't met your expectations or are faulty, we'd be more than happy to return them for you.

Given you've had some difficulty with splitting hoses, it could be due to high water pressure. Many of these soaker hoses have a max working capacity of 300-400kPa, and anything over that could cause splitting. It might be worth installing a pressure reducer before them.
