Hi everyone,
I recently laid down down synthetic turf to my once ugly concrete balcony. The new grass is so comfortable to walk on and I can now go out there without coming back inside with black feet! I looks great too and has really improved the feel of the whole apartment.
It's super easy to do and not very expensive. Below are some breif guidelines as to how I did it in about an hours time!
Step 1: Measure up your area
Step 2: Go into your local bunnings store and buy some synthetic turf (it comes in a variety of different looks and terxtures depending on your budget and can be purchased in rolls or cut to size). Also buy some artificial grass adhesive and a stanley knife if you dont already have one
Step 3: Cut your pieces of grass in sections depending on your area.
Step 4: Apply adhesive to the surface and place sections of grass in place. You dont have to use too much, just a dab every 20-30cms.
Step 5: Wait an hour or so for the adhesive to dry
Step 6: Crack a cold beer in your new outdoor area!
@JoshRaf
I noticed a few cracks in your balcony slab generally a Water Proofing coating should be applied to the Concrete Surface (Moisture Barrier) to stop long term moisture penetration and reinforcement corrosion.
Ive attached the relevant AS codes
Waterproofing membranes for external above ground use AS4654-2012
Part 1 Material
Part 2 Design & Installation
Part 3 Waterproofing Of domestic wet Areas
Interesting enough the MBA ran courses on its importance for their members
unfortunately now the Battlers & Punters are left to do their own waterproofing!
