Hello,
A newbie garden enthusiastic here !
Just wondering where can i find bulk creeping thyme seeds (like the 1kg lawn seed pack) ?
How much would I need for 100 sqm lawn ?
Thank you !
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @acinom93. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about creeping thyme seeds.
I've contacted our seed supplier, and unfortunately, they only have the Mr Fothergill's Thyme Creeping Seeds in 500 packs and no larger quantities.
Bear in mind that, as with most plants, there are spacing requirements, and you don't want to overcrowd an area. It's recommended that the seeds be planted in clumps 30cm apart. They'll then grow and fill the area between them. Say you planted five seeds in each location, and there were 12 locations per square metre, you'd need 60 seeds per square metre. For 100 square metres, you'd require 6000 seeds, which would be 12 packets. At $5.10 per packet, that might still be within budget for your project.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Mitchell !
Another follow up question, I live in Western Sydney, and with autumn/winter coming up, should I wait to plant the seeds till spring ?
Creeping thyme needs warm soil and consistent temperatures above 15°C for good germination @acinom93, and as autumn and winter approach, the cooler conditions may slow or prevent proper establishment. If you want to get a head start, you could try sowing a small batch in a warm, protected spot and see how they go. Otherwise, holding off until early spring would give you the best results.
