What is making this hole?
this hole has been in my front yard some time now and my cat keeps trying to catch and put her hand in it. If anyone has any idea of what is making this hole pls let me know I am afraid it might be something venomous it’s about 6cm wide and I have spotted many of these in my yard that are even larger then this one

Re: what is making this hole in my yard?
Hi @Angela5,
Due to the size of the hole, my best guess would be a burrowing mammal such as a field mouse, echidna or bandicoot, however without monitoring the hole it is difficult to tell. You could try setting up a camera overnight to record the hole and see if you can spot what is coming in and out.
If you are concerned, it is worth contacting a local pest control specialist as they will have the local knowledge and expertise to manage the issue and safely rehome whatever has dug the hole.
Allow me to tag some of our knowledgeable members for their thoughts: @Noyade, @HitOrMiss, @Noelle.
If you have any additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: what is making this hole in my yard?
Hi @Angela5
My guess is rat! Depending on where you are located, it's doubtful if it would be bandicoot unless you are on the outskirts of suburbia (semi-rural). The fact the cat is interested makes me think rodent. It's not likely to be snake or spider - it is too exposed.
