Planted roll out Buffalo turf this time last year. Only in the last few months have these new sprouts been coming through. Wondering if anyone knows if they are actually new Buffalo growth or are some sort of grass weed?
Looks like you have a problem with some annual grasses there - most likely Winter Grass (Poa annua). You really need to get on top of this before it get's any worse. If it starts going to seed and that seed ripens and disperses it will take you years to get rid of it. My grandfather would routinely use a hoe to grub it out if they are established like yours are or they can be hand-pulled if the ground is a bit wet and they are not as well established. I'm not as energetic so I would look for a specific herbicide for that weed. I work at Bunnings and we sell a couple of herbicides. https://www.bunnings.com.au/amgrow-100ml-winter-grass-killer_p2980004 and this one which is a ready-to-use version https://www.bunnings.com.au/munns-professional-2-4l-winter-grass-killer-weed-control_p0121424.
As with all herbicides, make sure you read the instructions and where the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Good luck.
Hello @ihavenews0cks
It's great that you've received fantastic advice from @robchin. I totally agree with his assessment. I suggest using Fiskars 4 Prongs Xact Weed Puller. The best time to pull them out is right after a good downpour.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
