Planter box using upcycled timber fence palings

Upcycling fence palings to create raised planter box surround, after having a piece of boundary fence replaced with some of the existing fence panels being in decent condition I knew they should be kept for a future project.

This raised planter box surround supports a large plastic plant pot with drainage and acts as a surround.  Once the size was determined (by selecting the internal pot that was suitable for the plant choice) the timbers were measured and cut with circular saw and then screwed into place, allowing for longer lengths to create planter feet. The timber was then  painted with external paint in white to suit our garden space.

Steps

Step 1

Measure and cut all panels.

Step 2

Screw panels together allowing for longer lengths as pot feet/stand and drainage at the bottom.Unpainted box constructed.jpg

Step 3

Paint all faces, internal and external.Painted box.jpg

Step 4

Plant up in chosen plastic pot.Planted container in box.jpg

Re: Upcycled Timber Fence Palings to Planter Box Surround

Hi @cindyh68,

Your planter box surround looks great!

You've got to love an upcycling project, and your paling planter box surround is a fantastic example of what you can achieve with some reclaimed materials and a couple of coats of paint.

Thank you for sharing.

Jacob
