Hi everyone we’ve been very busy at Lisa’s Garden! Now that the warmer months have finished and we’ve had a bit of rain, we thought it was time to construct our Maze 2.4m x 3.6m polycarbonate greenhouse! The area we’ve chosen is close to the edible garden paved area and raised garden bed. We recently extended the raised bed but just two sleepers high( will fence it with trailer sides to keep out Audrey🤣) We haven’t levelled off the area for greenhouse, but have built up with Sienna sleepers, which gets rid of an ugly corner and takes advantage of the views.
The greenhouse is a big project and does require a lot of patience, but well worth it in the end. You need to have a full day so that you can get it to a secured and safe stage and requires two people. We also added extra stability and support with upright sleepers snd cross Timbers onnthecsides that will cop the wind. We also have screwed greenhouse all around base to sleepers.
It has taken around 20 hours with the two of us putting it up (not including foundation base.) We are going to have soil beds either side with a crushed stone path down middle and then decked area at back for my pots. We will also be adding some timber sleeper shelves at the back of greenhouse.
I will be growing veggies in the greenhouse to extend growing times ( eg tomatoes) and also to protect things like capsicum and eggplants from frosts, so that they can be grown as perennials. Starting off seeds to get a head start on Spring sowing will also be done in the greenhouse. . Pots will also be moved in over winter, cold sensitive plants like banana and Chocolate Pudding plant. I will be putting Dragonfruit in the permanent beds, I currently have one growing on my Verandah
Here are the photos from what we have done so far, with more to follow as we progress.

Sorting out all the parts, keeps the build flowing.
Gorgeous!! What a beautiful greenhouse. I love what you’ve done inside. The decking is just beautiful. Your property and that view are breathtaking. I can see why you’d want to spend all your time there!!
Aww thank you 🐝🌸
Last year we built my greenhouse. It has been a great adventure and I was able to get weeks ahead of Spring/Summer sowing times. After a very wet Winter and a mild Summer it has been challenging for veggie growers. With the greenhouse I was picking tomatoes in December and getting good pickings weeks ahead of outdoor gardens in the Yarra Valley. I have also sown some tomatoes hoping to get a few more months out of them I also started my cucumber, pumpkin, zucchini’s in the greenhouse but outside temps were not quite hot enough to get a great crop from the pumpkins, but there is always next season!
For videos and how
Shade cloth for a couple of hot days we had 🤣
These were my first tomatoes picked from greenhouse in December
I grew 15 varieties of tomatoes this year, some were better cropping than others but I will try all but one again next season
Hoping to extend tomato season with late plantings
Crops that are planted in beds I cut off at ground level and top dress with compost ready for new plantings. I also underplant and make sure there is always something for the pollinators in my veggie beds and pots.
I hand water with a hose all of my veggies inside and outside as then I can check how everything is going, it is also very therapeutic I use watering cans for delicate area ,this new range of Holman ones are perfect for the job and come in 4 colours.
I save tomatoes for cold season eating checkout my instagram or Facebook page @LisasGarden
Hello @LisasGarden
Thank you very much for sharing photos of your green house and harvest. That chandelier always makes me smile every time I see it. Your tomato harvest looks fantastic they are making me hungry just looking at them.
Again, thank you for sharing such an inspirational garden.
