I have an eight-year-old Viburnum (3.5m tall) as part of a hedge containing 10 trees, all similar height. The bottom leaves of one have just developed these rusty coloured centres. Any tips?

The rusty brown patches on your Viburnum leaves could be caused by a fungal issue like leaf spot disease or environmental stress, such as sunburn or inconsistent watering. To manage this, start by removing the worst-affected leaves and disposing of them rather than composting, as this could spread the problem. Improving air circulation by trimming dense growth will also help reduce humidity around the leaves and prevent further fungal development.
Make sure your watering routine is deep and infrequent rather than shallow and frequent, as this encourages stronger root growth and reduces stress on the plant. If the issue continues to spread, applying a copper-based fungicide may help control the infection. Have you noticed whether the problem is affecting the other Viburnums in the hedge, or is it limited to just this one plant?
