Re: black spots on leaves and dark spots branches on teddy bear magnolia

Hello @adrianb

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Teddy Bear Magnolia.

Your Teddy Bear magnolia seems to have leaf burn or fungal damage, possibly sooty mould, which often appears after a pest infestation like scale or aphids. Since you've already used Conguard, which targets pests but doesn’t treat fungal issues, the next step would be addressing the blackened areas directly.

Try Yates Lime Sulfur from Bunnings, which helps control fungal infections. If sooty mould is the issue, it should fade as the pests are controlled. Also, check the undersides of leaves and stems for scale insects—if you find them, applying PestOil Insect Spray can help suffocate them. Pruning affected leaves and improving airflow by thinning dense growth will also help prevent further spread.

Please remember to wear personal protection such as gloves, goggles and a mask when using chemical sprays.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
