How to treat Murray Hedge leaves turning yellow?

Hi team, we planted Murraya last year June/July in our front yard to create a hedge. Most of the plants are growing fine except of a few plants leaves turning yellow. At the time of planting we had noticed the soil was clay and had added gypsum to break it. After a few months we have noticed that a few plants are not growing well and leaves  are turning yellow and few others planted in the same soil and direction are growing well.

I've attached photos for your reference.  Can you please suggest cause and solution to revive these plants ?

Thanks for your help

Re: Murray Hedge - for a few plants their leaves turning yellow

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Hetal. It's fabulous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about Murraya care.

Did the soil have a clay content, or was it a solid clay base layer? Gypsum is great for breaking down soil with a clay content, but it won’t improve drainage if there’s a solid clay base. If that’s the case, some of your Murraya may be struggling because their roots are sitting directly on the clay and becoming waterlogged.

You might have better results by removing the affected plants, adding a sleeper edging, and filling behind it with quality potting mix or garden soil. This would raise the plants up, giving their roots room to establish before reaching the clay. However, if it’s a solid clay base, it’s worth considering whether this location is the best spot for planting.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
