How to stop whipper snipper cord coming out?

My Makita whipper snipper line keeps coming out and cutting me when I am using it. The reel is nearly finished so is that why? Normally it's the opposite and breaks off short.

Why is this happening?

Do I have it threaded correctly?

Am I using the correct line/

Is there any workshops on putting a new reel on ? whipper snipper 1.jpegwhipper snipper 2.jpegwhipper snipper 3.jpeg

Re: Whipper Snipper cord

Hello @Tracey21

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your Makita line trimmer.

According to the manual you are using the correct line size. Your line loading sequence seems to be correct as seen in step 4 and 5. When you loaded the head did you turn the line in an anticlockwise direction as indicated in step 9? Please double check to make sure the line is turning in the correct direction. If it is, make sure that the wire is firm on the roll and load it back into the trimmer and give it another go.

I've placed the reloading instructions below for you to double check.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric
