Re: How to stop new kikuyu lawn going yellow?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @fady. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about lawn advice.

Your lawn would have been laid at the beginning of winter and subsequently would have been dormant over the cooler months. In colder locations, it can brown off entirely, whilst in warmer locations it might keep its green colour year round. Due to this dormancy, it really didn't have a great opportunity to establish itself. It's typically best to lay lawns in early spring during their growing period before it gets too hot.  It's great to hear that you were watering regularly, as that is certainly needed. Now that it's warming up, you should see the lawn put on growth and start to return to its lush green look. There are some gaps between your turf rolls, but hopefully, that should fill in. Have you applied any fertiliser to the lawn over this period? If not, now would be the prime time to get a quality slow-release fertilizer on the lawn, such as Scotts Lawn Builder 4kg All Purpose Slow Release Lawn Fertiliser. Also, you can apply Seasol 2 x 2L Ready To Use Lawn Fertiliser to help the lawn establish itself.

You should see the lawn improve with fertilisation and a continued watering regime. Here are a couple of useful guides: How to revive your lawn and How to take care of your lawn.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
