Hello, my apple blossoms ave been blooming and then turning brown and dry from the outer edges of the petals until the whole flower is dried up and dead. Same thing with the leaves.
The tree also has little black insects (aphids?). I've been spraying pyrethrum weekly but the insects are still there.
Would appreciate any advice on how to save the apple tree.

It sounds like your apple tree is dealing with both a fungal disease and an aphid infestation, which can be tough to manage but is definitely possible with a few targeted actions. The browning and drying of the blossoms and leaves suggest a fungal disease like blossom blight or apple scab, especially common in wet, humid conditions. To help with this, start by pruning any affected flowers and leaves and disposing of them away from your garden to prevent further spread.
Improving airflow around the tree by pruning can also help reduce humidity levels around the blossoms and leaves, making it less hospitable for fungal growth. Additionally, applying a copper-based fungicide or sulphur spray, following the product’s instructions carefully, can help manage the disease. Just avoid spraying in very hot weather, as it may damage the plant.
The little black insects are likely aphids, which can be quite persistent. Pyrethrum spray is effective, but aphids can rebound quickly.
