Hello,
My Buffalo lawn seems to be diseased, and I am not sure what to do about it. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @BT05. It's marvellous to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about lawn care.
The patchy browning and thinning could be caused by a fungal disease like Brown Spot, but heat stress, poor drainage, or pests might also be factors. Have you noticed any slimy or darkened areas in the morning, which could indicate fungus? Also, what’s your watering schedule, and have you applied any fertiliser or treatments recently?
Applying Mancozeb is a good approach as it’s an effective fungicide for combating Brown Spot. Make sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully for the best results.
In terms of watering, aim to water your lawn deeply, but only a couple of times a week. Daily watering can keep the grass too damp, making it more susceptible to fungal issues. Watering in the morning is key—this allows the lawn to dry out during the day and reduces the chances of fungus taking hold. If the lawn doesn’t dry out properly between waterings, it can create a moist environment where fungi thrive.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
