Hello @Wallis00
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us and thanks for sharing your question about your Dwarf Apple Leprechaun and Black Berry plants.
It sounds like your Dwarf Apple Leprechaun and blackberry plants are experiencing some transplant stress, which is quite common when plants are settling into a new environment. Since you’ve had them under shade cloth and are regularly checking compost and watering, you're already giving them a good start, but browning and curling leaves can indicate a few possible issues.
One of the most likely reasons is inconsistent moisture levels. Even though you're watering regularly, the roots may not be absorbing it properly if the soil is staying too wet or drying out too quickly between waterings. Checking the soil with your finger a few centimetres down can help determine if it’s too damp or too dry. If it's too wet, cutting back on watering slightly and improving drainage with a soil improver like Seasol Super Soil Wetter from Bunnings can help. If it's too dry, adding a thick layer of mulch like sugar cane or pine bark will help retain moisture and keep the roots cool.
Another possible cause is transplanting shock, especially if the plants were recently moved from a controlled nursery environment to an outdoor setting. A dose of Seasol liquid seaweed solution will help strengthen the roots and encourage recovery. If your area has been particularly hot or windy, even with shade cloth, the leaves can still suffer from sun stress, so gradually exposing them to more direct sunlight over time rather than all at once can help them adjust. Keeping an eye on any new growth will be a good indicator of how well they’re settling in.
