After 6 years occasional use my shredder started making a metallic noise resembling bearing failure when it wasn't under load. Removing the front cover revealed 3 of the set screws holding the steel face plate to the cover were missing & the 4th was loose. The drive shaft & white metal bearing looked OK. There was about 1mm of play in the shaft without the face plate.
I replaced the set screws using Locktight, greased the drive shaft & re-assembled.
The shredder still sounds as though the main bearings are shot whether under load or not.
Is this repairable?
Are replacement bearings available?
I would also like to know if the sacrificial aluminium shaving plate
is still a spare part.
The RSH2445T has performed very well to date. I expected to get >12 years out of this machine so I am disappointed in its longevity

Hi @PhilGorman,
If you'd like to discuss the cost of a replacement machine, that would be best done with the team at your nearest Bunnings store. You could take your receipt for the shredder with you and mention to the store manager that you're disappointed with the longevity of the machine.
