Re: How to remove agapanthus?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @mssfsmith. We're pleased to have you join us and look forward to reading about your projects and plans for around the house and garden. Feel free to post whenever you need a hand.
We actually had this question just a week ago - How to remove large amounts of agapanthus?
As per the advice shared, manually digging them out to remove them is typically the best method. If this is too physically demanding, you might like to consider engaging a handyperson or gardener to assist via a service such as Hipages or Airtasker.
All the best,
Jason

What weed killer for agapanthus?
It was suggested that digging them out was best & I agree but painful arthritis is a problem for me & first I need to thin them out a bit so I can get in amongst them & try a bit of digging. A few weeks ago I dug out a couple of isolated plants, by the time I'd finished, I actually had 3 large things which looked a bit like onions on the tops with bits & pieces hanging off them. The plants sprouting from them (chopped off first) were definitely agapanthus & when I started digging, it looked like only 2 bulbous things but a 3rd one was just underneath - would they have been the rhizomes? I hope so! Can't supply photos yet, don't have computer abilities - sorry.

Re: I need to use strong weed killer on our out of control agapanthus, which is best?
Hi @mssfsmith
Sorry about arthritis so lets try killing them with poision and hopfully they just rot down so you can sweep them up more easialy, Chipping them out 1 a day will get them and not over fill your green bin and not hurt you too much i hope.
Spray the Agapanthus board leave should be there weak spot here.
I dont know if they need super weed killer but here it is,
Do wear water proof gloves and mix outside in case of spills

Re: I need to use strong weed killer on our out of control agapanthus, which is best?
Hi @mssfsmith,
The weed killer @Jewelleryrescue has linked to is about the strongest stuff we supply at Bunnings, so it should do the trick, but be cautious as it will kill pretty much any plant it touches.
You can use a paintbrush to ensure it is only applied to the plants you wish to remove.
Make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions closely and wear gloves and long protective clothing when applying the weed killer.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you, Jacob. I haven't come across that brand but haven't looked very well yet!

What was the weed killer you recommended to Jacob, please?
I need really strong weed killer for tightly packed agapanthus & had a reply about one recommended by "jewellery rescue." Read it too fast & thought 'jewellery rescue' was a brand (dopey, I know) just thought it was a funny name for a weed killer.
Thanked Jacob & said I hadn't come across that brand but would look for it - well I suppose it'll give some of us a laugh - even me!

Hi @mssfsmith,
They were recommending Yates 250ml Tree And Blackberry Weed Killer Concentrate. 😁 I don't think @Jewelleryrescue has come out with their own line of garden herbicides as yet.

Re: What was the weed killer you recommended to Jacob, please?
Hi @MitchellMc
I saw a James bond movie where a beaker of his urine killed a man in a fight scene, I could try that on plants but maybe carcinogenic.. If it works, I will be standing next to a bottling machine all day hard way to make a dollar lol
