How to install folding clothesline on brick wall?

Hi there,

I’d like to install this clothesline into a brick wall. The bricks are hollow and look almost a bit brittle:

The product manual specifies to use 8mm masonry wall anchors. Do they mean something like the 8mm Ramset Ankascrew? What length? Or is it better to use some sort of wall plugs?

Alternatively, given the bricks are hollow, would it be a good idea to install this into the mortar between the bricks (even though the manual says not to do that)? Spacing of the hole on the bracket would allow that.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: Correct fasteners for a clothline

Hello @tom138

Thanks for sharing your question about installing your clothesline. I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How to mount a clothesline into brick? by @Bell_1986. It's an excellent example of how you can use the Ramset Chemset mounting kit. Using Ramset Ankascrew is a great way to mount items onto solid masonry and solid brick walls. But they don't do very well in hollow bricks as only the top part of the Anka screw holds onto the brick which is really not very secure.

I suggest using the following products to firmly anchor your clothesline in place if you have hollow bricks in your wall.

Ramset Chemset:

Re: Correct fasteners for a clothline

Thanks @EricL

If I use the Chemset Ultrafix plus will I be able to remove the anchor when I need to replace the clothesline in the future?

Re: Correct fasteners for a clothline

Hello @tom138

If you were to replace the clothesline and you happen to get a set that is the same width, there is a good chance that you can recycle the mounting studs. If not, then the studs will need to be removed and replaced with a new set. If the anchor is stuck it will need to be grinded down and the wall patched up.
