I really like the Merbau Screening Panels Bunnings stock and I would like to know if/how I can fix them straight to the existing fencing railings?
I've purchased 2 panels to see what they look like and have them leaning on the fence in the first photo, and they look great!
Our pool is 600mm out of the ground to mitigate the neighbours higher block and potential flooding. The decking is also 600mm above ground which is level with the coping so I'd have to remove decking boards and get into a tight space to instal new ground posts.
Any guidance would be very much appreciated!
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @DIYr00kie. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about attaching screening panels.
I think the best course of action would be to construct some framing and screw into the top of the deck frame. You can then add brackets to reinforce it. Once the frame has been attached to the deck, you could also attach it to the fence for some additional support before mounting your panels onto it.
The simplest solution would seem to be directly attaching them to the fence, but the posts and footers wouldn't have been designed for the additional load, and in high winds, the fence could be pushed over or begin to lean. A self-supporting frame is ideal, and connecting them to the deck would be the next best option to installing new posts.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
